Learn how to manage, export, or delete your data in Lock On.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your Lock On account directly from the app. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Lock On app and go to Settings (bottom tab bar).
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  3. Confirm your intent in the two confirmation dialogs.
  4. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to your email.
  5. Your account will be queued for deletion.

When you delete your account, the following happens:

  • Personal information (email, timezone, push token, display name) is permanently removed promptly, and in any event within 30 days.
  • Commitment and usage data (selected apps, daily summaries, streaks, trophies) is permanently deleted.
  • Active commitments are terminated immediately. No further accountability charges will be incurred.
  • Charge history is anonymized — your personal identifiers are removed, but the transaction record (date, amount, and Stripe reference) is retained for up to seven years to comply with financial and tax record-keeping obligations. These anonymized records cannot be linked back to you.
  • Subscriptions are cancelled at the end of the current billing period. You can also cancel directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Payment method references (Stripe customer ID, payment method tokens) are removed. Your actual card data is held by Stripe and is deleted according to their retention policy.

Data We Retain After Deletion

Certain data is retained after account deletion as required by law or for legitimate business purposes:

  • Anonymized charge records (date, amount, Stripe payment intent ID — with all personal identifiers removed) are retained for seven (7) years to comply with tax and financial record-keeping obligations under Canadian law. These records cannot be linked back to your identity.
  • Aggregated analytics that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

Request Partial Data Deletion

If you want to keep your account but delete specific data (for example, clearing your commitment history or usage summaries), contact us at [email protected] with the subject line “Partial Data Deletion Request.”

Please include:

  • The email address associated with your Lock On account.
  • A description of the specific data you would like deleted.

We will process your request within 30 days and confirm completion by email.

Request a Copy of Your Data

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. To request a data export, email [email protected] with the subject line “Data Export Request.” We will provide your data in a machine-readable format (JSON) within 30 days.

Can't Access the App?

If you no longer have access to the Lock On app (e.g., you’ve uninstalled it or can’t sign in), you can still request account deletion by emailing [email protected] from the email address associated with your account. Include “Account Deletion Request” in the subject line. We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 30 days.
